Spain Space Launches
Spain conducts space research at Torrejon Air Base at Madrid. Commercial space satellites have been loaded onto space rockets at Torrejon. However, launches to space are not made from this site.
Spain's Instituto Nacional de Tecnica Aerospacial (INTA) is at Torrejon. Among its engineering achievements are the antennas that were used in such well-known space satellites as TELECOM, OLYMPUS, HIPPARCOS, EURECA, ITALSAT, TELECOM, HISPASAT and ITALSAT.
Kourou. Today, Spain is part of the European Space Agency, which fires its Ariane space rockets from the Kourou, French Guiana, space launch complex known as Centre Spatial Guyanais.
Spain is one of ten of the fourteen European Space Agency member states that are participating financially in the International Space Station.
